A hypothesis is a testable prediction about your research question.

A hypothesis is not just a guess. It is a specific, testable explanation for a phenomenon, grounded in scientific literature.

For a hypothesis to be scientifically valid, it must be:

  • Testable: You can design a physical experiment to measure and observe the prediction.
  • Falsifiable: It can be proven incorrect by evidence. A hypothesis that can never be proven wrong is unscientific.
  • Specific: Isolate clear variables and target narrow outcomes rather than broad statements.
